“Gabagool”
#45: The Sopranos, 1995
Acrylic on Paper, Spring 2023
Some refer to it as "capicola", a peppery, thinly-sliced cured pork that is a common fixture on any standard charcuterie board. Others may dismiss it as just an unhealthy monstrosity that's nothing but fat and nitrates. Some may even compare it to a "Madeleine de Proust", a symbolic fusion of scents and tastes that immerses one into deep emotional thoughts of childhood memories. It can also be endearingly referred to as "gabagool" amongst close friends and confidents; a flavorful snack wrapped in deli paper in a spread stack, enough to hold you over between appointments, errands, and daily doses of nefarious scheming.
