“A Cruller of No Particular Color”
#16: The Wizard of Oz, 1939
Acrylic on Paper, Summer 2022
Farmwork on an empty stomach can lead to various sequences of chaotic mistakes, such as catching your hand in a horse cart repair or toppling into a fully-housed pigpen. To avoid such misteps, eat a freshly-risen, twisted, oblong crueller, which is essentially an old-fashioned donut that couldn't be bothered to appear in its usual circular form. Enjoy this sweetly dense pastry as you ponder against a haystack, singing about finding yourself on the other side of the sun's chromatic spectrum.
